Dark

The young girl stumbled down the long, bare road. Her eyes were dark. The expression on her face was blank. She wore an old, ragged white nightgown, splattered with dirt and mud. Her long blond hair was snarly and tangled. An old doll that was missing one button eye and was covered in just as much dirt rested in her arms. Her bare feet were scratched and bleeding. She continued to limp down the long pavement road, occasionally she would step on a pebble but it didn't bother her already sore feet.
The hot sun beat down on the long road. The young girl's throat was dry and sore. She desperately needed a drink but was unable to find anything to satisfy her needs. Her ankle was sore from walking such a long way.
But after what happened last night she had to get away from her house. She was dying just last night. That is until a very nice man jumped in her room through her window. He told her he could help her take away the pain. He told her that he could help her live for a very long time. She agreed. He then bite her neck. It hurt at first for his teeth were very sharp. But then she could feel the pain starting to go away. She felt alive again. After he pulled away from her neck he told her he must leave her house. He said that people couldn't know about their kind. So she told him she would leave once she told her mother she loved her. Once she did that she jumped out of her window. She felt her ankle crack and then ran through the woods and kept running until she made it to the pavement.
The young girl could feel her throat getting dryer and dryer. She couldn't understand why she was in so much pain. The man never explained that their kind could get such a bad pain for not drinking anything. Her throat felt like it was being clawed at and she could not longer handle it. She let out a small yelp. She wondered how could she live for a long time if she was never going to find something to drink. She figured she would die right here.
Suddenly, her ears perked up. She could hear a growling noise coming from ahead of her. She stopped walking and listened closer. She recognized it. The car's engine growled as it roared down the road. She saw the fancy, shiny black car come into focus. It was coming closer and closer. When the car noticed her it began to slow down, the sound of the engine growing smaller. The car stopped beside her. Its pitch dark window rolled down to reveal a middle-aged man. He was wearing a suit and pair of dark sunglasses.
"Why are you all alone on this road little girl?" he asked.
The young girl was unable to speak for her throat was in too much pain. Her eyes made their way away from his sunglasses down towards his bare neck. She could see his vein pumping up and down.
"Little girl, are you lost? Do you need to call your parents? Do you need me to drive you home?" he asked.
The young girl was still unable to pull her eyes from his neck. Her mouth was beginning to water. Her nose filled with a sweet scent.
"Little girl?" the man asked pushing his sunglasses onto the ridge of his nose. He looked at the young girl questioningly.
Then with one quick motion the girl pounced. She dug her teeth into the bare flesh of the man. Her mouth was filled with instant sweetness. The liquid rolled down her dry throat. Her body began to feel more alive. She continued to drink from the man's neck until she felt his body go limp. She pulled away and wiped her lips. She then crawled out of the driver's window and continued down the road.
